Since graduating from the Neighborhood Playhouse, Katina has been working extensively in the field of voice-over, narration, and radio for more than twenty years. She began acting in radio plays for NBC's "The Eternal Light" and her voice has been heard in comedy sketches for HBO, narration for National Geographic and Discovery, political satire for "Soundbites" on National Public Radio, and scores of other projects.
In over 15 years as a William Morris Agency commercial client, Katina recorded hundreds of commercials for radio and television. Clients have included Caress, Gillette, IBM, GE, Dupont, Oil of Olay, Estee Lauder, Band-Aid, Farmers Insurance, Duncan Hines, Fact Plus, Campbell's, Fisher-Price, Mercedes, and Sesame Street. Recently she has recorded for KitchenAid, Simon & Schuster, Massachusetts General Hospital, Lyrica, and A&E Biography. A member of SAG and AFTRA, she is currently represented by Stewart Talent in New York City.
As an announcer, Katina worked on the Peabody Award-winning radio documentary series, "Voices of an Illness," for NPR and she was heard weekly for 10 years as the announcer for "The Infinite Mind" on WNYC and 200 other public radio stations across the country. She was the live announcer at the Museum of Television and Radio in 2002 for "State of Mind," an exploration of mental health issues broadcast on NPR; she repeated this role at the Radio City Music Hall for "State of Mind: America 2004."
Katina has narrated numerous documentaries and industrials, including films for National Geographic and a one-hour special for CBS-TV on the Spanish painter Zurbarán (she was also the on-camera host). The film "Full Circle," which she narrated, was shown at the Museum of Modern Art. For the Travel Channel/Discovery Network, she narrated a one-hour documentary about the Tsunami, "Turning the Tide" and she was the voice of Catherine of Aragon for a National Geographic special on Henry VIII. Other narration clients include Estee Lauder, Swarovski, New York Life, Continental Airlines, and the Gold Council. Most recently, she has narrated films for National Geographic, the March of Dimes, Credit Suisse, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Estee Lauder's Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, "Mayors for Peace," A&E Biography: Anne Frank, and A&E Biography: Al Pacino.
Promo work has included recording for Dateline NBC, National Geographic, and CBS affiliates. Voice work for medical projects includes the Center for Disease Control, the Federation of Associated Hospitals, and Abbott Laboratories, for whom she was both the narrator and on-camera host in an informational video.
Proficient with a wide variety of accents and dialects, Katina has voiced projects using accents including French, Italian, Spanish, Greek, German, Chinese, and American Southern. She speaks conversational Italian, Greek, and French.
Katina has recorded many different character voices, including Zsa Zsa Gabor, Morticia, and Dolly Parton. For Fisher-Price, she has created voices for toys and, for Scholastic, voiced various characters for children's projects.
Along with her recording commitments, Katina works as a speech and voice coach.
